Making the work of Nepal's Parliament easier to follow for anyone

Paradarsita is a pro bono project by Relevant Research. We built it to make the work of Nepal's Parliament easier to follow for anyone, regardless of how familiar they are with how Parliament operates. The information we present is non-partisan and kept up to date.

The word paradarsita means transparency. That is the purpose of this project.

Information about Parliament exists, but it is spread across official websites and presented in ways that require significant effort to navigate. Paradarsita brings that information together in one place and presents it in plain, readable language. Whether you want to check the status of a bill, find out who sits on a particular committee, or see whether your representative is attending meetings, this is where you can do that.

We believe people have a right to know what their elected representatives are doing.

Why We Built It

In September 2025, thousands of young Nepalis took to the streets demanding transparency and accountability in governance. That movement was a reminder that access to information about how government functions is not a technical detail, it matters deeply to people.

Paradarsita is one small response to that. We built this tool because we share the belief that parliamentary information should be easy for any citizen to find and understand. That should be normal. It should not be something anyone has to fight for.

What We Track

We currently track three areas of House of Representatives:

Bills and Legislation

Where each bill stands in the legislative process, which committee it has been referred to, and what stage it has reached.

Committees

Who serves on each committee, the schedule on which its meetings are held, and the attendance of its members.

Members

Profiles of representatives, the committees they belong to, and their attendance records.

We currently cover the lower house, the Pratinidhi Sabha (House of Representatives). Coverage of the upper house, the National Assembly (Rastriya Sabha), is in progress.

Where the Data Comes From

All data on Paradarsita comes from following sources:

We collect the data, verify it, and organize it. When official records are incomplete or unclear, we leave the gap visible and note it rather than filling it in with assumptions. Showing what is missing is more useful than presenting something inaccurate.

Custom Metrics

The following metrics are not sourced externally they are calculated purely from the underlying data we already collect.

Committee Attendance Rate

(Total Attendances / (Total Members × Total Meetings)) × 100

Measures how actively committee members participate in meetings. A higher percentage means members attend more consistently.
